Job Description

Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Encompass Health, is seeking a Speech Pathologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders, developing individualized treatment plans that support optimal rehabilitation outcomes. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document progress in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations for adult and geriatric patients. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing safety. Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to coordinate care and participate in patient care conferences. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, compensatory techniques, and home exercise programs. Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and contribute to discharge planning and goal setting. Adhere to professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, including hospital policies and state and federal regulations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical program development, and implementation of best practices. Provide mentorship or guidance to students and new staff as appropriate and engage in ongoing professional development.
