Job Description

Niles Community Schools Speech Pathologist 3/4/2026 Full-Time position for the 2026-2027 school year Reports to: Special Education Director (or designee) Niles Community Schools is looking for a dynamic Speech Pathologist. Highly-effective communication skills and professionalism required for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration and community.
Qualifications:
Masters in Speech and Language Pathology OR Teacher of Speech and Language Impairments Michigan License to practice Speech and Language Pathology CCC-SLP (ASHA) Candidates in their CFY may be considered Essential Duties (non-prioritized): Identify speech and language problems having an adverse effect upon student learning Review pre-referrals for appropriateness Schedule and chair pre-referral staff meetings as requested Conduct student observations Complete diagnostic evaluations and prepare written reports Make recommendations on student eligibility as part of the multidisciplinary team Chair IEP meetings for speech and language-only students, complete county form Provide direct instruction/therapy to individual and small groups of students Exhibit quality preparation and planning, consultation and collaboration, delivery of service, and professional responsibility as outlined in the Danielson Framework for Speech practitioners Maintain cumulative files on students receiving speech and language services Serve as a liaison between speech and language impaired students Serve as a consultant to staff with speech and language-impaired students Maintain contact with parents regarding the delivery of speech and language services Make home visits and provide home-based instruction as necessary Supply the BCISD with caseload data as requested Administer hearing screenings as needed Order and maintain supplies and equipment necessary for delivering service Develop and present in-services Maintain confidentiality regarding all student affairs Working knowledge of the principles, practices and ethical standards of Speech and Language Pathologists, as well as relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Other duties as assigned by Special Education Director, Principal, and/or Superintendent of schools Professional dress is required for this position. Blue jeans, sweat pants, and camo are generally not acceptable dress for the classroom.
