TITLE:

LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE - SPEECH-LANGUAGE SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS

Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with Speech-Language Specialist endorsement. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years of experience in the field of speech therapy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal registered alien status. Proof of New Jersey residency, as required by statute.

REPORTS TO

Director of Special Services or designee

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Make assessments, analyses, and classifications of students' communication competencies and characteristics. Plan, prepare, and deliver treatment programs for children with speech and language deficiencies. Provide diagnostic evaluations of pupils referred to the child study team for communication disorders and participate in team conferences related to those pupils. Develop and implement an individualized educational program (IEP) in conjunction with parents and teachers for pupils who are eligible for speech language services and identify pupils in need of related services. Provide individual and small group intervention sessions with classified students, as necessary. Maintain close liaison with the Child Study Team and serve as a case manager as assigned for ESLS Students. Keep necessary records for each child and complete all required local, state, and federal reports, including SEMI documentation Conduct ongoing evaluation of all children in the program to determine appropriateness of their program. Act as educational consultant to classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators as required. Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community. Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Services.
