8PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with articulation, voice, language or fluency of speech disorders. Evaluate students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with their students' ability to benefit from the educational program.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university or Bachelor's degree with grandfathered licensure. Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of procedures for assessing communication functioning for educational purposes. Knowledge of tests and measurements to evaluate communication disorders and conditions. Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions. Ability to interpret data Ability to instruct and manage student behavior. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.EXPERIENCE
One year of supervised clinical speech-language pathology experienceMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment/Evaluation Conduct individual evaluations to identify students with speech or language disorders and conditions in order to develop and IEP within time guidelines. Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements by interpreting observations of data. Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in interpretation of evaluation data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions according to district procedures. Consultation Counsel and involve parents in remedial process. Collaborate with educators to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students within the context of the student's IEP. Provide professional development in assigned to schools to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits in students. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student. Consult with parents, educators, administrators and other relevant individuals to enhance facilitation of educational programs. Therapy Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Program (IEP). Monitor therapy progress and make adjustments when necessary to ensure goal process. Assess student progress to determine readiness for termination of therapy services. Program Management Develop and coordinate a continuing assessment of speech-language pathology services and make changes based on the findings. Assist in the selection of appropriate evaluation materials, equipment and instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents in a timely manner. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. Student Management Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students. Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Professional Growth and Development Obtain appropriate number of continuing education hours necessary to maintain license. Continue to develop a knowledge base and skills necessary to provide appropriate services required by a Speech-Language Pathologist. Maintain ethical standards as required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Other Complete all other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Patience and emotional control under stress. Organization and focus in order to frequently monitor timeline deadlines and folder compliance. Moderate lifting and carrying; may be required to lift and transfer learners to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning learners with physical disabilities and/or use adaptive/assistive equipment. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned. May work prolonged or irregular hours.START DATE
