420 This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with
SEIU-UHW.
As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. In alignment with the SEIU CBA, this position will be posted for 7 days internally from 08/10/26 to 08/18/26 and available only to existing members of the ratified SEIU Bargaining Unit with a contract expiration date of 9/30/2027. What You Will Do Responsible for assembling case carts for surgical procedures, maintaining storage and inventory of supplies and instruments, transporting case carts and supplies from SPD to OR. Required Qualifications Education to read and write at a level necessary to perform all duties Preferred Qualifications H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 1 Year Experience within a hospital/healthcare setting. Essential Functions Assembles a complete and accurate case cart for scheduled surgical procedures Obtains pick slip /preference card Prepares case cart for surgery according to pick list/preference card, instructions Signs all pick slips, makes appropriate notations for any unavailable supplies or instruments and changes pick slip, and notifies appropriate staff. Requests/orders items as needed to assure proper supply levels Transports carts and supplies between OR and SPD, using elevator, dumbwaiter or stairs as appropriate Maintains emergency carts as designated, rotating supplies to prevent outdating. Checks carts daily to assure all supplies/instrumentation is present. Assures proper storage and inventory control of designated supplies and instruments Completes proper supply order by using par levels to maintain adequate supplies. Communicates to all staff when back orders occur and suggest alternatives. Organizes new locations for supplies and changes in par levels current demands. Uses correct stock rotation pattern to prevent outdates Maintain a clean and orderly work area Sterile processing Assist Sterile Processing Technician Empties and decontaminates used case carts Put away unused items from case carts. Put away sterile instrumentation after processing Teamwork Participates in orientation of new personnel Participates in staff meetings. Utilizes resources in a cost effective manner Anticipates needs of surgery/SPD and prepares accordingly Willingly accepts additional assignments and remains flexible with work practices. Answers telephones/other communication devices quickly, professionally and responds to caller with positive statements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to prioritize and complete assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively and to exercise independent and mature judgment. Must have knowledge of surgical procedures and OR supplies and instruments/instrument sets. Knowledge of sterile processing procedures desirable.
