Decontamination Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician (Quality Control Technician ) is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring every item meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.Contract duration:
13 weeks to permanent oppotunity (Depends)Job Responsibilities:
- Follow all
ANSI/AAMI
standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and company Work Instructions.- Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and protocols.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required.
- Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets per guidelines.
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to packaging.
- Document missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
- Handle all instruments and customer-owned items with care to prevent damage.
- Perform daily computer tasks and paperwork related to processing and tracking.
- Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of one 2 years of hands-on experience in sterile processing, demonstrating proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
- General knowledge of surgical instruments and processing protocols.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, including steam sterilization and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with
ANSI/AAMI
standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs).- Skill in operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and other related equipment.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
