Work in the heart of San Diego at Scripps Mercy, offering a vibrant atmosphere and access to one of the best regions for work-life balance. What you'll do: Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in procedures for patient care. Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis. Responds to immediate requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to ensure there is no patient exposure to bioburden. Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed. Coordinates daily communication and operational needs with affiliated departments. May function as department lead with responsibility for assisting with daily department operations including staff scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance management. May function as the technical expert for a particular service line and in this role is responsible for improving service line processes and daily quality outcomes.
