Surgery Center Utility Worker / Sterile Processing Aide The Surgical Suites is seeking a dependable, hands-on team member to assist with sterile processing, instrument cleaning, receiving and stocking supplies, trash removal, and general surgery-center support. This is an active working position—not a supervisory or desk position. Duties include receiving large deliveries, sometimes up to 40 boxes at once; opening and putting away supplies; removing trash and recycling several times throughout the day; and carefully cleaning and processing small, delicate surgical instruments. The right person must be reliable, attentive, comfortable with routine cleaning duties, and willing to stay productive throughout the workday. Because ophthalmic surgical instruments are small, delicate, and expensive, this position requires steady hands, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to handle small items carefully without dropping, bending, or damaging them. Responsibilities Clean, decontaminate, inspect, organize, and prepare delicate ophthalmic surgical instruments according to established procedures and training. Handle small instruments carefully and identify any visible damage or missing components. Follow all infection-prevention, personal protective equipment, safety, and instrument-handling procedures. Receive and open deliveries, including large shipments of up to approximately 40 boxes at a time. Compare received supplies against purchase orders and report shortages or discrepancies. Organize, label, rotate, and place medical and office supplies in their proper locations. Restock clinical areas, procedure rooms, supply cabinets, and office areas. Monitor inventory and report items that are running low. Break down and remove cardboard boxes promptly. Collect and dispose of trash and recycling several times throughout the day. Keep receiving, storage, decontamination, and work areas clean and organized. Assist with general office organization and operational projects. Perform other support duties as assigned. Preferred Experience Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful but not required: Sterile processing or SPD Decontamination or instrument reprocessing Dental or ophthalmic instrument cleaning Medical-supply stocking or inventory Receiving, warehouse, or stockroom work Hospital, clinic, dental office, or surgery-center support On-the-job training will be provided. However, applicants must be comfortable handling delicate instruments and following detailed cleaning and safety procedures.
