Sterile Processing Technician 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642 $1,268 a week - Travel healthcare, Contract $1,268 a week - Travel healthcare, Contract Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Sterile Processing Technician, where your expertise ensures the safety and well-being of patients through meticulous sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sterilization, and inventory management to support smooth surgical operations. Your attention to detail and commitment to aseptic techniques will directly contribute to positive patient outcomes and the efficiency of our healthcare services. Duties Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices following established protocols and aseptic techniques. Inspect instruments for damage or defects, ensuring all equipment is in optimal condition before use. Manage inventory levels by accurately tracking supplies, ordering replacements, and organizing sterilized items for easy access. Document sterilization processes meticulously, maintaining detailed records for compliance and quality assurance purposes. Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure all necessary instruments are prepared and available for procedures. Adhere strictly to safety guidelines related to handling biohazardous materials and maintaining a sterile environment. Assist in the training of new team members on sterilization procedures and equipment operation. Qualifications Strong knowledge of sterile processing techniques, including cleaning, sterilization, and packaging of medical instruments. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to understand instrument requirements for various procedures. Experience with inventory management systems to track supplies efficiently. Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during instrument processing. Ability to follow detailed protocols accurately while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in recordkeeping and process documentation. Prior experience working in a healthcare environment or sterile processing department is preferred but not mandatory.
