Required Qualifications:

Requires one-year certificate from college or technical school or one year of related experience and or training.

Responsibilities:

Receives, sorts, inventories, decontaminates cleans, inspects, and sterilizes surgical items. Loads and operates washer-decontaminators, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers. Dates, stores and rotates sterile and non-sterile items. Inspects for outdated items. Uses and evaluates sterilizer test indicators. Inventories and maintains prescribed levels of sterile items for the operating room, Emergency Room and other clinical areas that require sterile instruments. Reports defective material or equipment and takes appropriate action to repair or replace items. The Central Sterile Technician reports to the Clinical Director of Surgical and Obstetrical Services. Performs job duties in a manner that will ensure a physical environment free of hazards to self and others.
