Job Description

Sterile Supply Aide Position Summary:
The Sterile Supply Aide (SSA) performs and participates in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which included and is not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures. The SSA will prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed by procedure. Perform the operation of the index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners as well as manually cleaning instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures. The SSA will disassemble, clean, assemble and test patient care equipment for proper functioning; route cleaned equipment to appropriate holding areas. The SSA may use chemicals in the appropriate fashion taking into consideration the intended use of the chemical as well as the chemical's function; knowledge of the appropriate PPE is also necessary. The SSA will sort dirty linen, trash and BFI and disposes of them according to established procedure, use PPE in the appropriate fashion in all areas, and will assure linen for packs are inspected, folded and assembled for sterilization in the prescribed manner according to documented policies and procedures.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma required.
Experience:
Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred. Previous specific experience with hospital patient transporting preferred. Previous specific experience with surgical services environmental services preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Central Service/SPD Training Course certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
Special Skills:
Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required. Strong verbal communication skills required. Strong PC skills required.
