Part-Time Central Processing Technician Timpview Surgery Center American Fork, Utah Timpview Surgery Center is seeking a Part-Time Central Processing Technician to join our surgical team. This position is ideal for an experienced Central Processing professional who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of sterilization, infection prevention, and patient safety.
Compensation:
Salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Support the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Timpview Surgery Center. Maintain a strong commitment to quality, patient safety, and infection prevention. Contribute to the progress and development of the Quality and Risk Management Program. Interact and communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers. Maintain individual and team professional competence through ongoing education and adherence to current standards and practices. Follow established sterilization, decontamination, and instrument-processing policies and procedures. Correctly operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and other equipment used in the processing of surgical instruments and supplies. Inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and properly store surgical instruments and equipment as required. Ensure processed instruments and supplies are available and ready for scheduled surgical cases. Assist clinical staff with operating room procedures and other patient-care needs as requested. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe central processing environment. Communicate promptly with the surgical team regarding equipment, instrument, or inventory needs. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of Central Processing experience preferred/required. Certification in Central Processing/Sterile Processing required. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Familiarity with healthcare equipment and surgical instruments. Demonstrated understanding of sterilization and infection-control principles. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Mental & Communication Requirements This position requires the cognitive, organizational, and emotional ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stressful situations, and challenging circumstances. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and interpersonal communications.
Physical Requirements The position requires:
High-level visual and auditory acuity for monitoring equipment, inspecting instruments, and responding to inventory and surgical-team needs. Ability to move quickly and safely in response to the needs of the surgical team. Ability to reach overhead and perform low-reaching activities. Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and work for extended periods. Ability to exert force of up to 70 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds constantly. Ability to work in changing environmental conditions. Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if indicated.
