Duties Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments, dental equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures, ensuring all tools are properly sterilized and organized. Assist during complex surgeries, including extractions, implant placements, and other oral surgeries, by handing instruments and maintaining a clear operative field. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems, including 3D scanners when applicable, adhering to all safety protocols for radiation exposure. Manage patient records accurately in EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security. Monitor vital signs and patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and provide excellent patient care. Follow strict infection prevention management practices by adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Support dental reception duties when needed by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments via patient management software, and providing exceptional customer service. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling medical documentation and medical records with precision and discretion. Assist with dental instrument processing, sterilization, and inventory management to ensure all surgical tools are ready for use at all times. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions related to oral surgery or general dentistry procedures. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on surgical procedures in a dental clinic setting. Proficiency in dental and medical terminology and an understanding of oral anatomy are essential for effective assistance during surgeries. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open Dental and experience with patient management software are highly desirable. Knowledge of dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization devices, and other clinical tools. Strong understanding of infection control standards aligned with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently. Certification in Dental Radiography (X-ray) is required. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
