Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Assistant Surgical Coordinator to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting . Experience in Orthopedics, Spine, Pain Management, or surgical scheduling is strongly preferred . The Assistant Surgical Coordinator will work closely with the Surgical Coordinator, physicians, clinical staff, and patients to help ensure that surgical cases are scheduled efficiently and that all necessary documentation and requirements are completed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, team player, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment. Responsibilities Assist the Surgical Coordinator with scheduling and coordinating surgical procedures. Assist with coordinating all aspects of the surgical scheduling process, from the initial surgical decision through the day of surgery. Schedule patient appointments related to surgical planning and pre-operative requirements. Communicate with patients regarding surgery dates, appointments, pre-operative instructions, and required documentation. Coordinate with physicians, surgical coordinators, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities. Assist with obtaining medical records, imaging, referrals, authorizations, medical clearances, and other required documentation. Review patient charts to ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date. Maintain organized and accurate patient and surgical records. Follow up on outstanding documentation, testing, medical clearance, authorizations, and other surgical requirements. Assist with insurance authorization and verification processes as needed. Ensure all necessary information is available prior to scheduled procedures. Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, providers, and staff. Work closely with the Surgical Coordinator and office team to keep cases moving efficiently. Maintain accurate scheduling and patient information in the practice management/EHR system. Assist with general clerical and administrative duties related to surgical coordination. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and office policies. Perform other duties as assigned to support the surgical coordination team. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical or healthcare setting required. Experience in Orthopedics, Spine, Pain Management, or surgical scheduling strongly preferred. Knowledge of medical office procedures and clerical responsibilities. Experience with medical records, charting, and proper documentation. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional and compassionate communication with patients. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer and administrative skills. Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player. Dependable, organized, proactive, and willing to learn. Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
