HR Shifts:

2nd shift

Equipment Handler Overview:

Supports the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) by performing essential tasks such as testing equipment, running diagnostics, assembling and delivering case carts, organizing surgical supplies, and providing dispatch services to ensure efficient case flow and surgical readiness.

Equipment Handler Responsibilities:

Run daily diagnostic reports and conduct equipment tests as needed. Retrieve pull sheets and follow step-by-step instructions for pulling and recording case cart pulls. Stock, organize, and rotate surgical supplies and equipment to maintain operational efficiency and compliance. Deliver, retrieve, and return case carts and supplies to designated clinical areas. Transport instruments and supplies to required locations within the facility. Utilize tracking systems to monitor and manage the location and status of instrument sets. Support Sterile Processing Department operational needs through assigned duties. Follow all hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and sterilization standards. Communicate professionally with surgical teams and SPD staff to facilitate smooth operations. Perform other duties as assigned.

SPD Support Requirements:

HS diploma or equivalent GED required. Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to multi-task. Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and basic computer skills are preferred. Must present themselves in a professional manner at all times. No previous work experience required.

SPD Support Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items weighing 20-30 pounds. Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Lifts and carries various items throughout the shift. Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range. #INDHS
