Clinical Director Position Summary:
The Surgical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting oral surgeons ensuring optimal patient care and clinical efficiency. This position involves both direct patient interaction and technical responsibilities in the operatory and sterilization areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare treatment rooms for oral surgery procedures, ensuring cleanliness and proper setup of instruments and supplies Assist oral surgeons chairside during procedures, including surgical extractions, implant placement, and IV sedation cases Monitor and support patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, including assisting with sedation monitoring under supervision Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment in compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines Take and process digital X-rays and cone beam CT scans as directed Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and surgical notes Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative instructions Manage patient flow through clinic Manage inventory and ordering of surgical supplies Ensure compliance with infection control and HIPAA regulations Assist with emergency response and patient recovery as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Certification or training as a Dental or Surgical Assistant preferred Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain) Radiology certification (or ability to obtain)
Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols Excellent communication and patient care skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment Professionalism, teamwork, and reliability EMR experience and familiarity with dental/oral surgery software a plus
Work Environment:
Clinical setting with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and surgical procedures Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of supplies or equipment
