Contract Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Surgery First Assist / RNFA for a 26-week contract assignment in Southwest Texas. The ideal candidate will have strong experience assisting cardiac surgeons in the operating room and be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. The Cardiac Surgery First Assist will provide direct surgical assistance during cardiac procedures, support the surgical team throughout the perioperative process, and help ensure safe, efficient patient care. Responsibilities Assist cardiac surgeons during surgical procedures as directed. Provide first-assist support during cardiac and cardiothoracic procedures. Perform surgical duties within the scope of practice and applicable credentials. Assist with surgical exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, suturing, and other first-assist responsibilities as appropriate. Maintain sterile technique and adhere to operating-room safety protocols. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiology, nursing, and other members of the surgical team. Prepare and maintain the surgical field and equipment. Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient care as required. Follow hospital policies, procedures, and infection-control standards. Document care and procedures appropriately. Qualifications Current certification/licensure appropriate for Cardiac Surgery First Assist practice in Texas. Demonstrated experience as a cardiac or cardiothoracic surgical first assistant.
