Job Description

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract A contract opportunity is available for skilled professionals with nurse ORT, certified, or non-certified surgical technologist backgrounds. This role supports a high-acuity surgical department within a large regional medical center known for trauma, neuro, and vascular expertise. Candidates should be passionate about perioperative care and prepared for diverse surgical environments.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts, 36 hours each week Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Key Qualifications:
At least 2 years of recent experience in an acute operating room Expertise in trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, gyn, urology, plastics, robotics (preference for DaVinci XI and Mazor experience), and additional specialized services Ortho (spine-focused), endovascular, breast, and ocular experience preferred Certified surgical technologist status preferred, but strong non-certified or ORT backgrounds also considered Previous experience in Level I/Level II trauma settings or primary stroke centers strongly desired Ability to function in a 1:1 patient assignment with minimal pediatric exposure
Responsibilities:
Scrub and circulate during complex trauma, neuro, and general cases using advanced robotics and endovascular platforms Collaborate with multi-disciplinary surgical teams, including service line leaders, charge nurses, assistants, and FA's Adhere to strict safety and infection control protocols Document patient and case information accurately using Cerner EMR and operate modern surgical equipment (Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell) Commit to weekend and holiday rotation, with on-call responsibilities as required Participate in a comprehensive two-week orientation and ongoing support
