Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. You will serve in the scrub role for plastic and aesthetic surgery cases, working directly with our surgeons and OR nursing team to maintain the sterile field and ensure safe, efficient case flow. Per diem shifts are scheduled based on surgical case volume, typically weekday shifts (no nights, weekends, or holidays currently scheduled). This is an excellent fit for a surgical tech looking for flexible, specialty-focused work in a surgery center environment. Responsibilities Set up the operating room for scheduled cases: prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeon preference cards Perform the scrub role: maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and supplies, and anticipate surgeon needs throughout the case Perform accurate surgical counts (instruments, sponges, sharps) with the circulating nurse per facility policy Handle specimens, medications on the sterile field, and sharps in accordance with safety protocols Assist with room turnover, terminal cleaning support, and case cart preparation Assist with instrument decontamination, sterilization, and sterile processing workflows per manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs) Monitor supply usage and communicate inventory needs Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and accreditation standards Requirements Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the NBSTSA strongly preferred Current BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of operating room scrub experience; ambulatory surgery center and/or plastic surgery experience strongly preferred Working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization standards, and instrument care Sterile processing experience a plus Professional, team-oriented demeanor and reliability for scheduled shifts Compensation & Per Diem Details Hourly rate: $35-48 per hour, paid bi-weekly Overtime paid in accordance with California law (1.5x over 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week; 2x over 12 hours/day) Meal and rest periods provided in accordance with California law Paid sick leave accrued in accordance with California law Access to CalSavers, California's state-managed retirement savings program (voluntary, via payroll deduction) Per diem status: shifts are offered based on case volume and are not guaranteed; this position is not eligible for health benefits or PTO Work Location In person — Newport Beach, CA Schedule Day shift Monday to Friday Shifts offered on an as-needed basis according to the surgical schedule How to Apply Submit your resume through Indeed.
