Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Travel Certified Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and medical equipment operation, with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse clinical environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide critical support in various surgical settings, including trauma centers, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, and endoscopy. The Travel Certified Surgical Technologist will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes through precise instrument handling, meticulous aseptic techniques, and effective collaboration with surgical teams. Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical supplies efficiently. Maintain accurate documentation of medical records, including procedure details and patient vital signs within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or other EMR platforms. Monitor patient physiology and vital signs throughout surgeries to ensure stability and immediate response to any changes. Support a variety of surgical specialties including trauma care, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic procedures, pediatrics, and endoscopy. Ensure compliance with hospital policies on infection prevention, sterilization standards, and aseptic techniques to uphold patient safety. Operate medical equipment safely and effectively while adhering to manufacturer guidelines and hospital protocols. Assist in treatment of fractures, trauma management, and critical care scenarios within Level I and Level II trauma centers or ambulatory surgery centers. Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Experience Proven experience as a Surgical Technologist with certification recognized by relevant accrediting bodies. Demonstrated expertise in data collection related to patient care metrics during surgeries. Extensive background working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Experience supporting cardiovascular surgery assistance and neurosurgery procedures is preferred. Familiarity with hospital medicine environments including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), medical-surgical units, and ambulatory surgery centers. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and treatment of fractures is essential for success in this role. Proficiency operating medical equipment such as endoscopes or specialized surgical tools while maintaining strict infection control standards. Ability to analyze clinical situations rapidly for effective decision-making during high-pressure scenarios like trauma or emergency surgeries. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
