Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. Our Perioperative Services department provides full support throughout the duration of a patient's surgical procedure, spanning ward admission, anesthesia, surgery and recovery. Professional care services include identification of the patient's individual needs, patient care plan development and implementation and the coordination of nursing service to restore each patient's health before, during and after a surgical procedure. As the Surgical Technologist, you will join our award-winning Surgery team and help to provide life-changing health care interventions to our patients. You will perform surgical scrub duties and maintain sterile techniques for all surgical procedures, as well as prepare the operating room, equipment and instruments for surgery while maintaining aseptic techniques. We are looking for someone with exceptional patient care and organizational skills, ability to carry out tasks effectively with minimal supervision and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

  • High school or equivalent.
Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. Current Certified Surgical Technologist with the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistant (NBSTSA). OR Certified Surgical Technologist Certification with National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Surgical Technologist program.
