Full Job Description Role Overview:
Provides surgical technology support for both direct and indirect patient care. Assists surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, prepares surgical instruments and equipment, and ensures a sterile environment. Acts as a resource, mentors staff and students, and functions as an informal lead technologist when needed.
Responsibilities:
Prepares for specific procedures, organizes sterile fields, anticipates case needs, and collaborates with surgeons to optimize outcomes. Performs scrub and assist roles across various specialties, manages case activities, and responds to intraoperative changes. Mentors and precepts staff and students, ensuring safety and efficiency. Manages case closing activities and supports intraoperative troubleshooting. Maintains patient privacy, participates in quality improvement, and fosters a positive team environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Requires an Associate's Degree or Surgical Technology Certificate, BLS certification within 30 days, and relevant knowledge of surgical procedures. Must demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, adaptability, and mentorship abilities. Flexibility to participate in on-call shifts outside regular hours is essential.
