Monday-Friday | No weekends We are seeking a skilled and dependable Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our growing orthopedic ambulatory surgery center. Our facility specializes in total joint replacement and arthroscopic procedures , providing high-quality, efficient surgical care in a patient-focused environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced surgical technologist who takes pride in maintaining a safe, organized, and sterile operating room and enjoys working as part of a close-knit surgical team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Surgical Technologist works closely with orthopedic surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team to provide safe and efficient care throughout the perioperative process. The CST is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, assisting during procedures, and ensuring appropriate turnover and readiness of the
OR. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operating Room Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for scheduled orthopedic procedures. Verify availability and functionality of surgical instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Perform surgical scrub and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures. Assist with sterile gowning and gloving of surgical team members. Set up sterile back tables and Mayo stands. Perform surgical counts according to ASC policy. Pass instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment to the surgeon and surgical assistant. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon throughout the procedure. Assist with surgical exposure and retraction as directed. Handle specimens according to facility policy. Maintain an organized and sterile surgical field. Assist with positioning and preparation of patients within scope of practice and facility policy. Assist with application of dressings and postoperative supplies. Assist with room turnover and preparation for the next case.
Orthopedic Responsibilities:
Experience with orthopedic surgery is strongly preferred, including: Total knee arthroplasty Total shoulder arthroplasty Knee arthroscopy Shoulder arthroscopy Rotator cuff procedures ACL and other sports medicine procedures Foot and ankle procedures Fracture/ORIF procedures Other orthopedic procedures The CST should develop familiarity with orthopedic instrumentation, implants, power equipment, specialty trays, and surgeon-specific preferences.
STERILE PROCESSING & INSTRUMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Properly handle contaminated instruments following established infection prevention procedures. Assist with cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes as assigned. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity. Assemble orthopedic instrument trays accurately. Ensure appropriate sterilization indicators are present and documented. Communicate missing, damaged, or malfunctioning instruments to the appropriate team member. Maintain knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention standards applicable to the role.
PATIENT SAFETY & INFECTION PREVENTION
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique. Follow ASC infection prevention and control policies. Participate in surgical site infection prevention practices. Follow surgical count and specimen policies. Identify and report breaks in sterile technique. Maintain awareness of patient safety throughout the surgical procedure. Participate in the ASC's quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification. Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program. Current BLS certification. Knowledge of surgical aseptic technique and sterile practices. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary surgical team.
Preferred:
Previous orthopedic surgical experience. Experience with total joint replacement procedures. Experience with arthroscopic procedures. Experience with orthopedic implants and instrumentation. Experience in an ambulatory surgery center. Familiarity with multiple orthopedic surgeons and surgeon-specific preferences. Experience with specialty orthopedic trays and power equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to: Stand for extended periods during surgical procedures. Frequently walk, bend, reach, and lift. Assist with movement and positioning of equipment and supplies. Lift and/or move surgical equipment and supplies as required. Maintain concentration and attention to detail throughout surgical procedures.
