Performs a surgical hand scrub following an established procedure. Utilizes and places approved sterile drapes. Assists with cleaning of surgical rooms in preparation for the next patient. recommended practices for decontamination/sterilization of instruments. Demonstrates proper procedure and use of autoclaves, steris, sterrad, ultrasonic cleaner and washer/sanitizer. Cleans, wraps and prepares instruments for sterilization. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment. Assists with OR cleaning and restocking. Performs all quality control functions as required, including documentation, preventative maintenance, mechanical, biological, chemical monitoring product and load identification, traceability recall procedure, and bowie-dick testing. Handles hazardous pharmaceutical waste in accordance with hospital protocol, including properly disposing of hazardous wastes, ensuring hazardous waste disposal containers are closed, and recognizing any hazardous waste spills or emergencies and contacting the hospital's hazardous waste coordinator accordingly.
