Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to aseptic techniques. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing, and handling surgical materials with precision. Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, including medical records and operative reports within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as PatientNow. Monitor patient vital signs and ensure proper positioning during surgery to optimize patient safety and comfort. Support infection prevention protocols by adhering to hospital infection control policies and sterilization standards. Assist with the setup and operation of specialized medical equipment used in Plastic Surgery. Ensure all surgical instruments are properly sterilized, maintained, and accounted for before and after procedures. Collaborate with Surgeons teams to facilitate efficient workflow within operating rooms (OR). Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing physiological data such as vital signs to support patient management during surgery. Qualifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is required; certification must be current. Proven experience working in hospital settings with exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques essential for safe surgical practice. Experience operating medical equipment or specialized surgical devices is highly desirable. Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHR), for documentation purposes. Excellent understanding of infection control practices and healthcare safety standards within hospital environments. Ability to perform data collection accurately for quality assurance or research purposes related to surgical outcomes. Critical thinking skills combined with attention to detail for handling complex procedures like fracture treatment or treatment of acute conditions. Prior experience in ambulatory surgery centers or outpatient settings is advantageous but not mandatory. →
