Job Description

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Responsible to Registered Nurse (circulator) and Director of Surgical Services
DEFINITION OF POSITION
The Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who primarily acts as the scrub person, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technologist assists Anesthesia personnel, Surgeons, Registered Nurses, Instrument Technicians, and Operating Room (OR) attendants in providing optimal patient care before, during, and after surgery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Graduate from an accredited or approved Surgical Technologist program. If a graduate from an approved Surgical Technologist program, need to provide competency/clinical experience documentation. Surgical Technologist certification preferred (all Surgical Technologists have one year from hire date to complete certification requirements). Meets continuing education requirements annually Current AHA BLS certification required.
