Job Description

What We Offer As a Surgical Technologist at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center you'll work under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. Our surg techs ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Rowan Medical Center is Novant's 4th's largest hospital, serving the Rowan County area since 1936. You'll work with a large team of surgical services professionals in the hospitals 8 operating rooms. The ORs here see a variety of cases including ortho, ENT, general, and GYN. What You'll Do Ensure that the operating room environment is safe Ensure that equipment functions properly Scrub cases Turnover rooms Ensure that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety Application of sterile and aseptic technique with the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools Facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
What We're Looking For Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D - Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required.
Experience:
Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
Licensure/certification/registration:
Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred. Current Surgical Tech Certification - based on state specific regulations (South Carolina Region Only), required.
Additional skills required:
For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills. Why Choose Novant Health?
