Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, dependable Lead Surgical Technologist to provide hands-on surgical support and day-to-day leadership within our operating room team. This role combines expert scrub responsibilities with coordination, mentoring, quality oversight, and workflow support. The ideal candidate anticipates the needs of surgeons, maintains uncompromising sterile technique, helps the team respond effectively to changing case demands, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration. This is an in-person position with paid holidays and no regularly scheduled weekends. Key Responsibilities

• Lead room preparation and verify that instruments, supplies, implants, and equipment are complete, functional, and appropriate for each procedure.
• Serve as a clinical resource for scrub personnel by assigning priorities, supporting case readiness, and helping resolve workflow or equipment issues.
• Scrub complex and routine cases, anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments and supplies accurately, and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Model and enforce sterile technique, infection-prevention practices, count procedures, specimen handling, and universal safety protocols.
• Coordinate with circulating nurses, surgeons, anesthesia professionals, sterile processing, and other departments to support efficient room turnover and on-time case starts.
• Participate in pre-procedure briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and handoffs; promptly escalate safety concerns or changes in patient condition.
• Mentor, orient, and coach surgical technologists and students; provide constructive feedback and reinforce department standards.
• Monitor instrument availability, tray quality, supply levels, and equipment maintenance needs; communicate shortages and follow issues through resolution.
• Support accurate counts, documentation, specimen transfer, blood-loss communication, and other required procedural records.
• Assist department leadership with quality improvement, policy adherence, competency validation, staff education, and readiness for regulatory reviews. Required Qualifications
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Substantial recent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital operating room; lead, preceptor, or charge experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, infection prevention, and case preparation.
• Ability to scrub a broad range of procedures and remain effective during urgent, high-acuity, or rapidly changing situations.
• Strong communication, organization, conflict-resolution, and team-coaching skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and position equipment and supplies, and perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience training or precepting surgical technologists.
• Experience supporting trauma, orthopedic, general, interventional pain, or other specialty cases relevant to the facility.
• Familiarity with quality improvement, inventory coordination, competency assessment, and regulatory readiness.
• Additional technical training, advanced trauma education, or specialty certification. Benefits
