Full Time The Monitor Tech/Ward Clerk on the Multi-Specialty Unit is accountable for processing paper work, maintaining records and supplies, and observation of telemetry monitored patients. Knowledgeable and efficient in use of Order Communication System (O.C.), Patient Classification, Scheduling and Staffing system (PCSS) and Electronic Patient File (EPF). Maintains responsibility for accurate transcription of physicians' orders, processing paper work, maintaining records and supplies, and handling communications in order to provide a more effective and organized patient care area. Displays superior customer service skills with all customers: Physicians, hospital staff, patients and families. Performs other duties as required. Responsibilities Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders. Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems as identified. Collects, transmits, and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse (RN) with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change. Maintains current monitored patients in the system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients. Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff. Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors and messages. Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, and treatment requests into system. Assembles and maintains patient medical records including posting of results.Qualifications Education Required:

0 - 3 MONTHSLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Healthcare Provider BLS. Must possess certificate of completion of EKG Arrhythmia course, must pass EKG/Arrhythmia Exam prior to hire and annually thereafter.SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
Knowledge of HIPAA and other applicable regulations, including patient confidentiality and risk management. Ability to communicate clearly and with courtesy with all members of the healthcare team, following lines of authority as appropriate. Proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunications in documentation, tracking and conveying information. Ability to retain composure while working in a fast paced, ever changing environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
