Here, you will work alongside passionate physicians, nurses, and other caregivers in a family-oriented, supportive environment. Martin South Hospital's 16-bed Progressive Care Unit cares for patients that require a higher level of monitoring, including telemetry. Patients typically have been transferred from med/surg units, the emergency department, the ICU or a post-procedural area. As a Clinical Technician on the team, you will support your fellow caregivers and medical staff by providing patients with top-quality care. Under the supervision of an RN, you will utilize your technical and applicable skills to enhance the patient experience and create a welcoming, healing environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, application of external monitoring devices, and further technical skills of phlebotomy, clean dressing changes, 12-lead ECG's, and insertion of urinary Foley Catheters. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly. Complete an internal training program within two weeks of hire. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training
Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
