HUC/Telemetry Technician 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Position Summary The HUC/Telemetry Technician monitors the central receiving station at all times. The HUC/Telemetry Technician is responsible to identify the patient's label and post rhythm strips on each shift. The HUC/Telemetry Technician communicates any changes in baseline rhythm to the Registered Nurse and secures a copy for documentation. HUC/Telemetry Technician also provides clerical support for the patient care area under the guidance and direction of the nursing staff when assigned. Core Job Duties Performs all clerical functions. Exhibits good organizational, time management and teamwork skills, which contribute to the management and efficient operation of the unit Serves as the main focus for communication in the nursing station regarding all unit patient care activities to ensure efficient coordination of the unit activities Demonstrates the ability and competency to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations Answers the telephone, name & department, directs all calls appropriately, takes an accurate message and delivers to the appropriate individual Communicates any problems, concerns or issues promptly to the nurse Performs routine duties for electronic monitoring of patients Initiates and discontinues telemetry on the central station monitors Notify unit for faulty leads and battery function For ED monitoring, documents rhythm strips at the beginning of each shift and for any changes PRN, utilizing the ED Shift Report Tool Interprets the monitored rhythm Notifies nursing staff immediately of any significant or emergent rate/rhythm and documents strips and enters occurrence into ED Tracking Tool Minimum Requirements BLS Certification through the American Heart Association Office/Clerical experience in a medical setting Patient care experience preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as good computer proficiency, with excellent customer service and communication skills Detail oriented and possesses multi-tasking skills Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull Salary Range - $17.50-24.76 hourly (Based on experience) Additional information To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
