Job Description
Mercy is seeking an Associate Sonographer to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams and support compassionate patient care. In this role, you will operate ultrasound equipment, follow established imaging protocols, and collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. You will prepare and position patients, explain procedures, document findings in the EMR, and maintain imaging equipment and exam rooms. Responsibilities Perform routine and limited specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations following established protocols Prepare, position, and educate patients to ensure comfort and exam quality Collaborate with radiologists and providers to support accurate diagnosis and care planning Document exam data, measurements, and preliminary observations in the EMREnsure proper operation, cleanliness, and basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all imaging areas Prioritize and manage exam schedules to support efficient patient throughput Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and quality improvement activities Required Skills Diagnostic medical sonography Ultrasound physics and instrumentation Abdominal and small parts imaging OB/GYN ultrasound fundamentals Vascular ultrasound basics Patient positioning and body mechanics PACS and EMR documentation Infection control procedures Anatomy and physiology for imaging Radiation-free imaging safety and ergonomics
