Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic wellness team as an Ultrasound Technician, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to clients. This position involves operating advanced ultrasound equipment to produce detailed images that assist midwives and physicians in diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions. You will work closely with obstetric, gynecological, cardiovascular, and general medical teams to ensure accurate and timely results, all while providing compassionate client care. Your expertise in ultrasound technology, anatomy, and medical terminology will contribute to improved client outcomes and a positive experience. Duties Operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures across various specialties including maternal-fetal medicine, gynecology, breast health, echocardiography, and vascular diagnostics. Prepare clients for procedures by explaining the process clearly and ensuring their comfort throughout the imaging session. Apply aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during invasive or sensitive procedures. Accurately capture high-quality images using vascular ultrasound imaging, prenatal ultrasounds, abdominal ultrasounds, and gynecological ultrasounds. Analyze images for clarity and diagnostic value; adjust equipment settings as needed to optimize image quality. Document findings thoroughly within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and ensure images are stored securely within Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Collaborate with midwives, physicians, and healthcare teams to interpret results and provide detailed reports for diagnostic radiology or specialist review. Maintain proficiency in operating various medical imaging devices and stay updated on advances in sonography techniques. Follow all safety protocols including proper patient positioning, infection control practices, and adherence to medical equipment operation standards. Assist in training new staff or students in ultrasound procedures and safety protocols when required. Help with office work and answer and monitor ultrasound phone extension and voicemail when not performing ultrasound duties. Qualifications Proven experience in performing diagnostic sonography with a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential preferred. Knowledge of maternal-fetal medicine, Ob/Gyn diagnostics, breast ultrasound, women's health diagnostics, echocardiography, vascular technology diagnostics, gynecological ultrasound, and general medical imaging techniques. Familiarity with operating medical imaging equipment such as ultrasound machines for vascular imaging, prenatal assessments, abdominal scans, and gynecological evaluations. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and PACS for image storage and management. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams. Ability to maintain aseptic technique during procedures while providing compassionate patient care. Strong understanding of medical equipment operation and safety protocols necessary for accurate diagnostics.
