Job Description
At Houston Methodist, the Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist II position is an experienced Technologist who completes a variety of routine to highly complex diagnostic Ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of high difficulty, including vascular ultrasound exams. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of ultrasound exams. The Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist II position serves as a mentor to Ultrasound Technologist I and students by utilizing skills and knowledge to help train and educate others. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care situations. The Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special ultrasound procedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. PRN as needed. No Call Holidays required

EXPERIENCE

- Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
- American Heart Association

- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
- OB/GYN (ARDMS);RDMS-AB

- Abdomen (ARDMS);RDMS-BR

- Breast (ARDMS);
ARRT-SON
- Radiologic Technologist

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- + Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams.
This includes:
positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures. + Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures or special ultrasound procedures, including assisting with sterile technique. + Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language.QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- + Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.
