A Veterinarian provides medical care to animals. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries. Specializes in treating either pets and small domesticated animals, or large animals and livestock, or wild animals. May work on farms, in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, in animal shelters, or in hospitals or clinics that specialize in caring for animals. May inspect livestock used for food and check compliance with food safety regulations, or work in laboratories doing clinical research on animal and human diseases.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures for companion animals
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients
  • Provide emergency medical care as needed
  • Educate clients on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and general pet care
  • Maintain accurate medical records of all patients
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians and other staff members to ensure quality patient care
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary medicine and attend continuing education opportunities
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited university
  • Valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state
  • Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, animal physiology, and veterinary medicine principles
  • Proficiency in performing animal catheterization, animal care, and veterinary critical care procedures
  • Experience with equine medicine is a plus
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and staff members
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

$65.00
