A Veterinarian provides medical care to animals. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries. Specializes in treating either pets and small domesticated animals, or large animals and livestock, or wild animals. May work on farms, in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, in animal shelters, or in hospitals or clinics that specialize in caring for animals. May inspect livestock used for food and check compliance with food safety regulations, or work in laboratories doing clinical research on animal and human diseases.

Job Description

The West Virginia Racing Commission is seeking a Regulatory Veterinarian. Duties include, but not limited to, pre-race examinations of the horses to determine racing soundness, observes horses during the races and post-race, handles on-track emergencies. Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: 1. DVM or VMD degree. 2. Ability to become licensed by the West Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine. 3. Excellent administration skills; Excellent interpersonal skills; ethical, honest, and professional qualities. 4. Able to be firm on decisions.
