Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi About the team | Ko te rōpū nei The Three Waters Unit is responsible for delivering sustainable water services to the community, including the management of stormwater systems, wetlands and natural waterways. We're looking for a Healthy Water Bodies Facilitator to join our Quality & Compliance team, working alongside a group of dedicated technical professionals. The Quality & Compliance team are responsible for ensuring compliance with our regional consenting requirements and Taumata Arowai's regulations in the management of our three waters network. We are an influential and trusted team committed to proactively ensuring safe and healthy water. About the role | Ko te mahi nei This role has a strong technical and hands-on focus, ensuring effective monitoring, performance and management of Council wetlands, stormwater treatment devices and waterways across the city. You'll also play an important role working with communities and partners to support healthy water outcomes. In this varied and rewarding role, you will: Deliver water quality and ecological improvements across stormwater, floodplain works and natural waterways Undertake and coordinate hands-on field monitoring and sampling, including wet weather response work Assess treatment performance and recommend improvements to wetlands and stormwater treatment devices Oversee contractors, monitoring programmes and associated procurement activities Prepare clear, robust technical, ecological and water quality reports Provide technical advice to internal teams and contribute to project design and delivery Work closely with community groups, community waterways partnerships, mana whenua and external agencies to support waterway initiatives About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You're someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and gets things done. You're technically capable, organised and confident working autonomously, while also being friendly, approachable and comfortable working with a wide range of people. You'll bring: A degree in ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering or a related field Several years' experience working in ecology, water quality or environmental science roles (experience in a large organisation is ideal) Strong knowledge of stormwater systems, wetlands or water body management Experience with field monitoring, data analysis and technical report writing
