Full-time Job Summary:

The primary duty is making sure the fleet is safely maintained and roadworthy. Using technology to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle/equipment diagnostics. Performing preventative maintenance and repairs related to A/C systems, air brake systems, component lubrication, cooling systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, Paccar/Cummins and other makes of diesel engines, replacing/rotating tires, suspension systems, transmissions, and drivelines. The main types of equipment are Cement Mixer Trucks , Truck Tractors, Bottom Dump Trailers, and Tank Trailers.

Responsibilities:

This position performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy construction equipment and on-highway trucks in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Ensures a safe work environment that complies with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment. Performs diagnostic tasks to properly source parts and accurately repair heavy equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to diesel and gas trucks, trailers, loaders, etc. Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance work on equipment and vehicles. Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts. Troubleshoot and rewire electrical systems. Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with the manufacturer's specifications. Researches, orders, and maintains the inventory of parts for service and repairs. Completes/reviews all paperwork as necessary, including but not limited to work orders, parts requests, time cards, logs, pre-trip/post-trip inspections, etc. Make service calls and roadside repairs as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

To delegate mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance tasks to other mechanics and/or lube technicians. To assist the Fleet Manager in tracking repairs, costs, labor, statuses, mechanic schedules, and the use of the fleet.

Qualifications:

Must have a valid Class C Driver's License with a clean MVR, (Class A CDL preferred). Be at least 25 years of age. Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits. Strong computer diagnostic skills. Must be able to obtain or currently possess adequate tools to perform all assigned duties. Perform well in a "TEAM" environment. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Flexibility to work various schedules with required overtime. Communicate in English effectively, both written and verbally. Pass a drug screen and background check. Minimum 4 years of heavy equipment/on-highway truck maintenance experience or related field that showcases skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Ability to lift 75 pounds. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
