About us:
Bread and Flours is Palm Springs' first Blue Zones-approved vegan bakery.
We make real food:
long-fermented sourdough and plant-based baked goods that are flavorful, made with care, and lighter on the planet. We support our community and maintain a clean, organized kitchen with high standards for personal hygiene. Every day, we strive for excellence—in our work, our product, and how we treat each other. This work isn't easy, especially during the busy winter season. But it is absolutely rewarding in so many ways. We are looking for someone committed, reliable, and eager to uphold our high standards. Join us to create delicious vegan baked goods made with care. We support your growth in a small, focused, and safe kitchen environment.
Schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday, 35-40 hours per week. Bakery hours include early mornings. Weekend availability is required as part of the Tuesday-Saturday week.
What you will do:
This is a kitchen role. You will not work the counter or take customer orders. Guests can see the bench through the glass; your job is the work behind it. Support the kitchen team and head baker throughout production Mix, shape, bake, pack, and stock according to our methods and formulas Maintain quality and consistency in high-volume production by following recipes and standards precisely Prep, organize, and keep the line moving to ensure efficient bakery operations Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens, and slicing tools Contribute to constant cleaning: dishes, stations, floors, equipment. Everyone shares responsibility for cleanliness and resetting stations. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen throughout each shift Follow food-safety management practices and proper food-handling procedures without shortcuts Be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Support and respect your teammates; we help each other succeed. Work in a focused kitchen environment, prioritizing attention to the product. Productive conversation is encouraged; distractions are not. 30-day review: The first 30 days are a review period, looking at reliability, attitude, cleanliness, pace, willingness to learn, and teamwork. Meet these standards, and your pay will increase after review. Chef coats are provided after a successful review. If standards are not met, we will discuss next steps, which may include more training or concluding the role. Employment is at-will for both parties.
Who this is for:
You are reliable and punctual. You maintain a positive attitude, even during early, hot, or busy shifts. You communicate well and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team.
Excellent attention to detail:
recipes are followed, and baked goods are checked for quality. You take pride in cleanliness—both for the kitchen and yourself. Bakery experience helps but isn't required. We will teach the craft if you have the right spirit. This is a chance to build real culinary skill in a fast, supportive kitchen. You do not need to be vegan or already love vegan baking. Passion for food — real ingredients, flavor, and doing the work well — is a big plus. You are physically prepared for bakery work: standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, heat, and repetitive motion. You are seeking a steady, regular production role through the season. You are comfortable being visible in an open kitchen without being the person at the register. Requirements Valid Riverside County Food Handler Certificate (statewide California cards are not accepted in Riverside County). If you do not have one yet, you must obtain it promptly after hire; we will follow California employer-paid training regulations. Closed-toe, non-slip work shoes every shift Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods Reliable transportation and availability Tuesday-Saturday, including early mornings Authorization to work in the United States Résumé required. We will not consider applications without a résumé.
How we support the team:
We work hard and look after those who work hard with us. Training is thorough, and standards are clear. After a successful 30-day review, we provide pay increases and chef coats. We expect you to uphold the same standards we set for ourselves.
How to apply:
Send your résumé to bakehouse760@gmail.com. We will only consider applicants who submit a résumé.
Please include a brief note:
