Job Description
Seeking fast learning Bakery Assistant with minimum of 1 year professional bakery experience to work Full Time. Looking for people to work weekdays and weekends. Must be available to work holidays. Must have professional bakery experience, as well as having experience in a professional, commercial kitchen/bakery. Our restaurant has a full bakery and all desserts and pastries are made from scratch in-house. The bakery and restaurant are high-volume and fast-paced.
•Applicants must complete all required questions and skills assessments to be considered for moving on to the interview phase of the hiring process.
•Job purpose The assistant baker is responsible for preparing the highest quality strudels, tortes, cakes, pastries, and stollens, and cleaning their work station throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. Must follow recipes consistently, and meet production demands. The assistant baker must have a willingness to learn, and the ability to expand knowledge of a small bakery into what it takes to be a large scale production operation. Duties and responsibilities Answer, report and follow Head Pastry Chef's instructions. Bake strudels, tortes, cakes, pastries and stollens as necessary per the provided production instructions. Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment. Assists with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages; informs supervisor when supplies are low. Ensures proper presentation, quality, and portion control. Effectively utilizes measuring instruments, commercial-grade mixers and ovens, and other tools to bake cakes. Adheres to the proper packaging, labeling and storage of baked goods as well as product rotation standards, and maintains baking and refrigeration logs. Work as a team to ensure all baking supplies are sufficiently prepared for the next shift. Complies with all health and safety guidelines and policies and procedures. Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within the work area. Handles food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service. Cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area. Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling baked goods and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed. Qualifications Applicants must be 18 years of age. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a Baker or in another operational support role at a commercial bakery. Is able to operate commercial-grade ovens and other bakery equipment and work adjacent to a high-heat source. Is methodical about using exact measurements, paying strict attention to timing, and working on a tight, fast-paced production schedule. Can evaluate products, processes, information, and surroundings to determine compliance with standards. Must have the flexibility to work various shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on changing business demands. Skills Commitment to quality. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.50 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
