Maui Pie is looking to add an experienced baker to our team!
About Us:
Maui Pie is a dedicated specialty pie shop passionate about crafting the perfect pie. From flaky crusts to unique and seasonal fillings, we pride ourselves on scratch-made, artisanal, and high-quality products. We are seeking a passionate baker with a positive attitude to join our close-knit kitchen team.
Role Summary:
We are looking for an experienced baker to produce a wide range of pies, including fruit, cream and savory pies. The ideal candidate has baking experience, but kitchen experience would also be considered an asset. The candidate can work efficiently in a fast paced environment, and is committed to maintaining consistency in both flavor and appearance.
Key Responsibilities:
Production and Baking:
Prepare, mix, and bake a variety of pies and baked goods according to established recipes, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. •
Dough Mastery:
Expertly mix and press our flaky dough in a high volume production environment. •
Filling Creation:
Prepare and cook diverse fillings (fruit, cream and savory) with proper consistency and flavor balance according to recipes. •
Inventory and Quality Control:
Monitor inventory of ingredients, manage waste, and inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet our high standards. •
Cleanliness and Safety:
Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation, adhering strictly to food safety regulations. •
Innovation:
Although our recipes are established and must be strictly followed for consistency of existing products, we encourage creativity for new menu items. Every month we have a "Pie of the Month" and we love to experiment with new and exciting ideas and we encourage new menu item ideas. •
Customer Service:
Our bakers often interact with our guests, take phone orders and provide exceptional customer service when guests enter the shop, provide information on our pies and treat guests like Ohana, excellent customer service is a top priority at Maui Pie and the right candidate must possess excellent customer service skills.
Required Skills & Qualification:
Experience:
1-3+ years of professional experience in a high volume, production bakery, café or restaurant kitchen is preferred but we are willing to train the right person without kitchen experience. Enthusiasm for learning is essential. • 1-3+ years of customer service experience in a fast paced, friendly restaurant, bakery or café environment. •
Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in commercial baking equipment, including mixers and conventional ovens would be an asset. • Attention to
Detail:
Meticulous approach to measuring ingredients, ensuring consistency and decorative edge work while working at a fast pace is essential. •
Time Management:
Ability to organize tasks efficiently to meet tight production deadlines. •
Physical Stamina:
Must be able to stand for long periods and able to lift up to 50 lbs. (e.g. bags of flour/sugar). •
Reliability:
Willingness to work mornings (7am), weekends and holidays. A history of great work attendance from references would be an asset. • Food Handlers Certificate is an asset, or willingness to complete certification before starting.
