Assistant Baker Sons Bakehouse | Mandeville, Louisiana Sons Bakehouse is a small, family-owned artisan bakehouse built around good food, community, and a genuine love for the craft. We were recently named by New Orleans Mom as one of the Northshore's newest obsessions, and we're growing! We're looking for an Assistant Baker to join our team and work closely alongside our Executive Chef. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn, grow, and build real experience in a professional bakehouse environment. Why You'll Love This Position You'll be working directly alongside a highly experienced Executive Chef who is passionate about teaching and developing the next generation of culinary professionals. You'll have the opportunity to learn hands-on techniques, production methods, organization, food safety, and the day-to-day operations of a professional bakery. If you dream of becoming a chef, baker, or pastry chef, this position is for you. We are willing to train the right person, so professional bakery experience is not required. However, candidates with previous kitchen, bakery, pastry, culinary school, or food-service experience are strongly encouraged to apply. What You'll Do Assist with daily production of breads, pastries, desserts, and other bakehouse products Work alongside the Executive Chef and follow recipes and production procedures Learn and assist with mixing, scaling, shaping, proofing, baking, decorating, and finishing products Help prepare ingredients and organize production for the day Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and portion sizes Properly label, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures Keep workstations, equipment, floors, storage areas, and the kitchen clean and organized Wash dishes, baking equipment, utensils, sheet pans, and other kitchen tools Assist with opening and closing cleaning duties Take out trash and recycling as needed Help receive, organize, and put away deliveries Assist with stocking ingredients and supplies Work efficiently as part of a small team Be willing to learn new techniques and take direction Help wherever needed to keep the bakehouse running smoothly What We're Looking For A genuine interest in baking, pastry, or culinary arts A positive attitude and willingness to learn Reliable and dependable Able to follow directions and work independently when needed Strong attention to detail Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Good communication and teamwork skills Professional kitchen, bakery, or culinary experience is a plus, but not required Culinary students and aspiring bakers/chefs are encouraged to apply Physical Requirements This is a physically active position in a working bakehouse.
