Job Description
Cake Decorator Job Summary The Bakery Decorator is responsible for creating high-quality cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and specialty desserts that meet customer expectations and the bakery's standards for appearance, taste, and presentation. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, excellent customer service, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other specialty desserts according to customer orders and bakery standards. Order Management Review daily production schedules and customer order forms. Verify order details, including flavors, colors, messages, and special requests. Prioritize production to meet pickup deadlines. Communicate any concerns or changes to management promptly. Customer Service Assist customers with cake consultations and design recommendations. Provide friendly and professional service in person and over the phone. Help customers select products for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and special events. Resolve customer concerns in a courteous manner. Quality Control Maintain consistency and quality standards across all products. Inspect finished products before packaging and delivery. Ensure freshness and proper handling of all baked goods. Sanitation and Safety Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Properly use and clean decorating equipment and tools. Adhere to state and local health regulations. Inventory and Team Support Monitor decorating supplies and notify management when inventory is low. Assist with baking, packaging, stocking, and other bakery duties as needed. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth operations. Support holiday and peak-season production requirements. Produce buttercream, fondant, piping work, edible images, and other decorative finishes. Ensure products are visually appealing, accurate, and completed on time. Prepare products for display cases and walk-in sales. Experience and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of cake decorating or bakery experience preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under deadlines. Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Preferred Qualifications Experience with buttercream and fondant decorating. Experience creating custom cakes and specialty desserts.
