Job Description

EXPERIENCED BAKER/PASTRY COOK, FULL TIME ABOUT US
: We are a high-volume gluten free and vegetarian bakery cafe located in the heart of Beacon, NY. We focus on using organic and local ingredients that highlight the bounties of the Hudson Valley.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
: Since opening in 2020, we have seen non-stop growth. We are in the process of opening a sister restaurant in the very near future, which will open up new positions at varying levels, allowing for our team to grow.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Production and finishing of gluten-free breads, pastries, cookies, flour blends, cakes, muffins, quick breads, biscuits, scones, frostings, glazes and a variety of other products. Daily morning bake of all products for the cafe and savory team. Arranging, labeling, and organizing pastry display case before opening and throughout the day.
Inventory management including:
daily inventories, FIFO, proper labeling and dating of all goods. Ensure all food preparation and presentation is in accordance with cafe standards. Maintain a steady, quick, and consistent work flow. Maintain a safe kitchen environment. Cleaning and maintaining equipment and station at all times. Follow set production, cleaning and closing lists and schedule. SKILLS Understand and adhere to health and safety regulations. Basic math. Ability to follow verbal instructions and written recipes. Ability to work in a high volume production setting. Time management skills/sense of urgency. Excellent communication and teamwork. Organization skills and attention to details. Ability to properly bake products without over or under baking. Ability to receive feedback, take direction, and work as a team to create a supportive environment. Ability to lift 30 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods of time during a shift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
2+ years experience in a bakery kitchen setting. 2+ years experience using professional kitchen equipment ServSafe is preferred Certification from a culinary school is preferred but not necessary
JOB TYPE
Full Time (30-40 hours)
STARTING PAY
: Commiserate with experience
PREFERRED AVAILABILITY
5am-2pm. Must be available to work at least one weekend day.
BENEFITS
