We started in 2018 and spent much of our first eight years primarily focused on wholesale baking. We're now entering a new chapter of the business, continuing to grow our wholesale partnerships while expanding our storefront, custom desserts and retail offerings. We're a small team, which means everyone plays an important role in keeping production moving. We're looking for an experienced baker who can work well alongside our current baking team, follow our established recipes and processes and eventually be trusted to handle production independently when needed. This is not an entry-level baking position. We're happy to train someone on the way we do things at A&M, but we're looking for someone who already has hands-on baking experience and is comfortable working in a professional bakery environment. What You'll Be Doing Your primary role will be helping with daily bakery production. Initially, a large portion of the position will involve working alongside one of our bakers who handles mixing while you weigh, portion and pour batter into loaf pans. As you learn our recipes and production systems, you'll also be trained on mixing and may rotate between different parts of production.

Responsibilities will include:

Weighing, portioning and pouring batter accurately and consistently Preparing ingredients and assisting with daily bakery production Learning and following A&M Sweets recipes, procedures and quality standards Working alongside another baker as well as independently when needed Loading and unloading commercial ovens Producing consistent products in a high-volume environment Helping with cinnamon rolls, sweet rolls, cakes and other bakery items as needed Assisting with packaging, labeling and order preparation when production requires it Setting up, cleaning and closing production workstations Dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup Helping customers and operating our POS when needed Cross-training on our upcoming Build Your Own Dessert Bar Cross-training as a backup delivery driver Cake Decorating Experience Required Cake decorating will not be the majority of this position, but we are specifically looking for someone with previous cake decorating experience who can provide additional decorating coverage when needed. You should be comfortable with basic cake decorating techniques, piping and hand-piping clean, legible writing on cakes. Experience with cinnamon rolls, sweet rolls or enriched doughs is strongly preferred, but not required. What We're Looking For Previous professional or substantial bakery experience Previous cake decorating and piping experience Comfortable working independently and alongside other bakers Able to accurately follow established recipes and instructions Coachable and receptive to feedback Able to take direction from our bakery manager and other experienced bakers and work within established production systems Dependable with reliable attendance and punctuality, including for early-morning shifts Strong time-management skills Comfortable switching between tasks as production needs change Able to maintain accuracy while working at a steady production pace Comfortable helping customers when needed Valid driver's license and comfortable being trained to drive a Ford Transit van for occasional backup deliveries Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive production tasks Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs Must be at least 18 years old We value previous experience, but we also value coachability. Every bakery has its own systems and our recipes and processes have been developed specifically for A&M Sweets. We're looking for someone who brings experience to the position while still being willing to learn and consistently follow the way our team operates. Schedule & Hours A&M Sweets currently operates Monday-Friday. Applicants must have availability for shifts scheduled as early as 6:00 AM and as late as 5:00 PM , depending on the needs of the bakery. This does not mean you will work from 6:00 AM-5:00 PM. Individual shift times and lengths will vary. This position will start part-time, with the possibility of increased or full-time hours as the bakery grows. We are also considering expanded storefront hours in the future, which may create additional evening hours for employees who are interested and available.
