Now Hiring in Seward We're looking for a Barista/Cannista whose shifts will be split between our two Seward locations : The Tufted Puffin's downtown retail and Our Tufted espresso café lounge located at the harbor. The ideal candidate has a genuine love and passion for both cannabis and coffee , paired with a strong dedication to customer service. We are hiring for full-time and part-time shifts, including weekday, weekend, and peak tourism season shifts. Ideal candidates will have prior barista and budtender experience , though we're happy to train motivated, reliable individuals as well. Position Summary This hybrid Budtender & Barista (Cannista) role is a customer-facing position responsible for both cannabis retail service and café/espresso service, splitting time between our two Seward locations. Team members assist customers, prepare beverages, operate POS systems, follow Alaska cannabis regulations, and help maintain clean, organized, and compliant workspaces at both locations. Key Responsibilities Budtender / Cannabis Retail Duties Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service Verify IDs and follow Alaska cannabis compliance requirements Process sales through POS and METRC systems Explain cannabis products, strains, and formats (no medical claims) Maintain clean, accurate, and compliant product displays Follow cash-handling and security procedures Barista / Café Duties Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, teas, and specialty beverages Operate, clean, and maintain espresso equipment Maintain café cleanliness and food safety standards Assist with restocking, prep, and opening/closing duties Deliver consistent service during high-volume periods General Responsibilities Move between the Harbor retail/café lounge, and our Downtown retail locations as scheduled Bring genuine enthusiasm for cannabis, coffee, and hospitality to every shift Participate in paid training for cannabis, espresso, and customer service Work collaboratively with team members and management across both locations Maintain a professional, reliable, and positive work ethic Preferred Qualifications & Experience Prior barista experience (espresso prep, milk steaming, customer volume handling) Prior budtender or cannabis retail experience Genuine interest in cannabis and coffee culture Familiarity with POS and/or METRC systems a plus Required Qualifications & Certifications Must be 21 years of age or older Alaska Marijuana Handler's Card (required) Alaska Food Worker / Food Handler's Card (required) Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs Seasonal Hiring Note Seasonal positions are available to support our busy summer tourism season, with opportunities to remain on staff year-round based on performance, availability, and business needs.
