Job Description

Job description We are looking for a kind, caring, and passionate Barista to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea. Barista responsibilities include greeting customers with a smile as they walk in, educating customers on our drinks and pastries, making recommendations based on their preferences, taking orders, multi-tasking, and keeping a clean work environment. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills, be friendly and enthusiastic, have previous barista knowledge, efficient multitasking skills, love to help and serve others (both customers and team members) and have the ability to listen and communicate effectively. Our hours of operation are Monday-Sunday 7am-6pm . Compensation includes hourly at $17.75 plus credit card and cash tips. On average, credit card tips increase the hourly rate between $21- $23.
Responsibilities:
Greet customers as they enter Point out our menus (classic menu on the wall, extended menu and if any holiday drinks) and answer their questions regarding ingredients Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios) Prepare beverages following recipes Serve beverages and pastries (we do not make food on-site) Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards) Keep the dining area, patio and bar area clean Maintain stock (grab and go fridge, cups, lids, sleeves, sugars, etc.) Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs Comply with health and safety regulations Be able to perform opening and closing duties Be able to lift at least 25lbs Be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items Other duties as assigned by management
Skills:
Previous work experience as a Barista Hands-on experience with brewing equipment Knowledge of sanitation regulations Flexibility to work various shifts, primarily Wednesday-Sunday Basic math skills Ability to gauge customers' preferences Excellent communication skills High school diploma; relevant training is a plus Food Handler Certification (this must be up to date and for San Diego County) What we're looking for: Must have Friday-Sunday availability A warm, friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude Someone that loves to help and serve others (both customers and team members) Eager to learn Attention to detail Ability to listen and communicate effectively A multi-tasker who thrives in a fast paced environment
