BARISTA / CAFÉ TEAM MEMBERJoin Our Café & Bistro Team in San Jose, California We're looking for a reliable, hardworking, and customer-focused Barista / Team Member to join our café and bistro team in San Jose. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, coffee and tea, food preparation, and the day-to-day operations of a busy café. Our ideal team member is energetic, detail-oriented, clean, dependable, and willing to jump in wherever needed to keep the café running smoothly.RESPONSIBILITIES
Barista & Beverage Service Prepare high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, teas, authentic chai, and other beverages on our menu. Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment safely and properly. Prepare hot and iced beverages according to recipes and café standards. Maintain consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and portioning. Latte art is preferred but not required. Maintain proper stock levels of coffee beans, tea, milk, syrups, garnishes, and other beverage ingredients. Monitor the freshness and quality of coffee, tea, dairy, and other ingredients. Follow proper food and beverage handling and sanitation procedures. Food & Pastry Preparation Prepare and plate fresh pastries and other café food items. Assist with daily ingredient preparation, including washing, cutting, portioning, measuring, and organizing ingredients. Assist with light back-of-house food preparation as needed. Follow recipes, portioning standards, and food safety procedures. Ensure prepared ingredients and food items are properly covered, labeled, dated, and stored. Properly organize food containers and ingredients in their designated refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas. Check expiration dates and maintain proper FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation. Communicate low-stock, expired, damaged, or spoiled ingredients to management. Customer Service & Front-of-House Operations Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming café experience. Take customer orders accurately and answer questions about menu items. Process cash, credit card, and other payments accurately. Educate customers about menu offerings, ingredients, beverages, and customization options. Prepare and serve food and beverages promptly and professionally. Serve drinks and dishes to guests seated on the patio or other designated dining areas. Check on guests when appropriate and respond to customer needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-of-house environment. Assist with overall front-of-house management during busy periods. Help maintain smooth customer flow, seating areas, counters, and service stations. Table Service & Dining Area Clear and bus tables promptly after customers leave. Clean and sanitize customer tables and chairs. Clean spills immediately and ensure floors and dining areas remain safe. Sweep and maintain floors throughout the shift. Keep the patio clean, organized, and guest-ready. Collect and properly dispose of trash and used dishes. Restock napkins, utensils, condiments, takeaway supplies, and other front-of-house items. Ensure the dining room, patio, counter, and customer-facing areas are presentable throughout the day. Teamwork & Café Operations Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house team members. Communicate effectively with coworkers and management. Be willing to assist with different areas of the café based on business needs. Help with opening and closing duties. Restock ingredients, supplies, cups, packaging, and other café essentials. Maintain organized storage areas and ensure everything is returned to its designated location. Clean sinks, counters, shelves, storage areas, and service stations. Maintain clean and organized refrigerators and freezers. Assist with scheduled deep-cleaning tasks, including cleaning under and behind equipment, shelving, refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, floors, walls, and other areas as assigned. Complete opening, closing, and cleaning checklists accurately. Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Follow café recipes, procedures, cleaning schedules, and operational standards. Report equipment issues, maintenance concerns, inventory shortages, and customer concerns to management. Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude at all times. Be dependable and punctual and maintain consistent attendance.REQUIREMENTS
Prior barista or café experience preferred. Passion for coffee, tea, chai, and café culture. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food-safety procedures. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to perform cleaning, stocking, food preparation, bussing, and other general café duties. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks associated with café operations. Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.WORK AUTHORIZATION
Must be located in the Bay Area or willing to relocate. Must have or be able to secure legal authorization to work in the United States. Valid work authorization is required. This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and individuals with other valid employment authorization (such as an H-4 EAD).WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
