Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Kavatender to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in kava culture, barista, and hospitality. Candidate should have a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Kavatender, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Your leadership skills will be essential in training staff and maintaining a positive work environment. 1. Customer Service Experience Friendly and welcoming demeanor Ability to engage with regulars and new customers Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience handling customer complaints or special requests 2. Barista/Bartending or Beverage Service Experience Experience working in a bar, café, juice bar, or similar environment Comfortable making and serving beverages quickly and consistently Understanding of drink preparation, including traditional and flavored kava or botanical drinks 3. Knowledge of Kava & Other Herbal/Botanical Beverages Basic understanding of what kava is (origin, effects, and preparation) Willingness to learn and educate guests about kava culture and effects 4. Cash Handling & POS System Experience Experience operating a cash register and/or point-of-sale system Ability to handle cash and electronic transactions accurately 5. Sanitation & Cleanliness Practices Knowledge of proper food and drink hygiene Keeping bar area clean and organized Washing barware and maintaining cleanliness throughout shift 6. Multitasking & Time Management Ability to handle multiple drink orders in a busy environment Efficient time management during rush hours 7. Teamwork & Collaboration Works well with coworkers in a fast-paced setting Willing to help out in other roles when needed (e.g., restocking, cleaning) Optional/Preferred Experience Prior experience at a kava bar or herbal lounge Knowledge of Polynesian or Pacific Islander kava traditions Interest in wellness, natural remedies, or alternative health Serving certification (depending on local laws
