We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and detail-oriented Lead Barista to help build our coffee program from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves coffee, enjoys connecting with people, and wants to be part of creating something special. Our ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, organized, and takes pride in both the quality of the coffee and the overall guest experience. Key Responsibilities1.
Coffee & Quality Control Dial-In & Extraction:
Oversee morning setup and continuously adjust grind sizes, dose, yield, and extraction times to maintain high-grade espresso standards throughout the day.
Beverage Crafting:
Prepare a full menu of espresso-based drinks, manual filter coffees (pour-over, batch brew), and signature seasonal beverages according to recipe standards.
Latte Art & Presentation:
Deliver clean, high-standard milk texturing (microfoam) and latte art across all espresso drinks.
Quality Assurance:
Taste and test espresso, drip, and milk regularly to ensure flavor accuracy, proper temperature, and consistency across all shifts. 2.
Leadership & Floor Operations Shift Leadership:
Guide baristas during high-volume rush periods, maintaining smooth workflow, clean stations, and proper role distribution.
Staff Training:
Assist in onboarding and training new baristas on extraction theory, milk steaming, POS operation, and customer engagement.
Hospitality Standard:
Set the tone for warm, engaging customer service—building relationships with regular guests and handling service feedback gracefully. 3.
Inventory & Equipment Maintenance Equipment Care:
Perform daily and weekly cleaning routines on espresso machines, grinders, water filtration systems, and cold brew setups (backflushing, group head cleaning, burr maintenance).
Inventory Monitoring:
Track coffee bean usage, milk, syrups, and paper goods; notify management of reorder needs to avoid stockouts.
Health & Safety:
Maintain strict cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards behind the bar and in customer seating areas.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
2+ years of hands-on experience in a high-volume or specialty coffee environment (third-wave coffee background preferred).
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of espresso extraction mechanics, brew ratios, coffee origins, processing methods (washed, natural, honey), and milk chemistry.
Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-first mindset.
Physical Capability:
Ability to stand, walk, lean, and reach for 6 to 8 hours per shift, and comfortably lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., milk crates, coffee bags).
Availability:
Flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and select holidays.
Certifications:
Valid local Food Handler's Permit (or willingness to obtain before start date).
Pay:
$1.00 - $2.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
